DI Wins 3 Augmented Reality Contracts
DI recently won three contracts, offering exciting augmented reality (AR) solutions to multiple branches of the US Military. DI will be developing MedAR and TARgET (Testbed for AR Experimentation and Training) for the US Army while working on MASTER for the US Navy. These contracts expand on DI’s diverse AR & VR development abilities, specifically Medical XR services and head-mounted display evaluation capabilities.
The MedAR system improves the realism of patient state representations during training exercises. It presents accurate casualty state data across any medical mannequin or human role-player while automatically responding to care provided with actual medical equipment. MedAR provides a more realistic training experience while eliminating the need for expensive mannequins, ultimately reducing training costs.
TARgET is an experimental suite aimed at testing EO/IR AR training systems and providing objective feedback on the system’s ability to train. The system is being developed for the US Army’s NVESD (Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate), who is responsible for conducting research and development for advanced sensor technology.
MASTER is an AR system being developed for the Office of Naval Research that is capable of supporting novice through expert personnel. The platform’s features include the ability to set training objectives, define performance metrics, design knowledge checks, visualize trainee performance and integrate with learning management systems.
