DI wins Homeland Security Award
On April 17th, Design Interactive was awarded the 2018 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Small Business Achievement Award for the quality of work done in support of DHS. DI was recognized for performance while developing the Pat-Down Accuracy Training Tool (PATT) in support of the DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The PATT team was acknowledged for both the quality of work and exceeding planned milestones.
PATT is a life-sized mannequin training tool designed to help train security officers in appropriate coverage and pressure for pat down search tasks. PATT uses pressures sensors embedded in 90% of the body surface to objectively measure a trainee’s performance, ensuring that they are conducted appropriately and consistently. This provides enhanced performance data over current methods that lacks objective, visual feedback on the amount of pressure or coverage. DI’s solution can be used to standardize training and assessment of pat downs nationwide.
